009: false lash tutorial

I've been slowly getting more obsessed with false lashes lately. I guess it's because I keep looking at gyaru fashion these days and a lot of their makeup looks use false lashes for the dolly eyed effect~ False lashes and circle lenses~ (^▽^)

A friend of mine sometime ago mentioned something about applying lashes, but felt she needed more instruction than "glue them on your face". So, here's my attempt at tutorial of what I know and my process for her benefit, others, and even mine. Layouts are weird. I need the practice. (¬ะด¬。)

Tutorial time~ I used the elf natural lash for this tutorial.

  1. After applying eyeshadow, prep your lash line by lining with eyeliner. This will help the lash band of your false lashes blend in. Use either liquid or pencil eyeliner. I prefer using liquid liner, so that's what I used~
  2. Line your inner upper lash line for a fuller look and help better hide the lash band.
  3. Curl your lashes. This will help blend your natural lashes to the false lashes.
  4.   Squeeze some glue out on the back of your hand, palette, or other flat surface.
  5. Using a brush or toothpick, apply some of the glue to the lash band of your false lashes. I use this method in order to deliver a very uniform and controlled amount of glue. You can also swipe the lash band through the dollop of glue if you don't have either brush or toothpick handy. Wait about 15-30 seconds for the glue to become tacky.
  6. Place false lash to rest on natural lash as close to lash line as possible, lining lash to fit the inner corner and outer corner of eye . Use fingers and or the back of brush to gently ease and pat the false lash in place. I like to line up my lashes from outer corner to inner corner. Repeat 5 & 6 for the other eye~
  7. Once you feel like the lashes are properly placed and won't fall off, apply mascara. Applying mascara will help the natural lashes blend better with the false lashes. You don't need a lot as your eyes are probably already dramatic thanks to the lashes, just enough so that they blend in. Or layer those suckers up with loads of mascara to really bring out them sexy eyes. Do what ever you want, doods~

Take your time and have patience when applying false lashes. You'll most probably need to practice putting them on first in order to get the hang of it. Figure out what method might work best for you. Also, try applying half or demi lashes if you just can't get the hang of full lashes~ They're shorter than full lashes and I find them much easier to work with~

I feel like this was a lot of words and information and bad pictures. Hopefully, this will be of help for those of you wanting to start wearing false lashes.

Peace out, yo~  (●‿●)/

008: elf natural lash review & dress up!

Here's another lash review, as promised~ I probably review the last one tomorrow or so, haha. I really should have done all three in one post. :P

As you can see, yesterday I dyed the blonde of my hair blue! Woooohoooo~ It turned out a lot lighter and vibrant than I expected, even after mixing in a bit of black.

Close up of lashes
I really like the elf natural lashes! As these ones are a lot wispy and lighter than the dramatic lashes, I can definitely see myself using these often for sweet and simple daily looks. They blend in very well with my lashes and look very natural as they're named~ I also found that the natural lashes didn't feel as plastic-y as I did with the dramatic lashes. The band on these lashes are also really thin and flexible, which is good for clean and natural looks.

Additional face shot :P
As you can see, they add just an extra bit of attention to a look without being too overwhelming. These are probably something you can get away with a very light liner and minimal make, but still want a bright look~

I also played around a bit with different outfit coordinates. I always find it fun and interesting coming up with new coordinates when I get bored. Even from just changing socks, a coordinate can feel like a really different look.

Hopefully tomorrow, I will be posting a tutorial for applying false lashes. Look forward to it~

Goodnight, sweeties~ (●3●)<3

007: red plaid, how you grew

I'm in a bit of an off mood today so no review post today. I didn't really feel like posting my grumpy face~ :P That's what happens when you don't feel well.

I found out today that Alexa Vega from Spy Kids played Shilo Wallace in Repo! The Genetic Opera. I love Repo. I found it quite surprising to know since I love Shilo and her goth-y style. :) She really grew up!

Totes awesomeness

Recently, I ended up finding my favourite cold weather shorts. Apparently, they were where they were supposed to be, tucked away with all my other winter clothes. When I pulled them out, I was surprised to find that the hem stitching had come undone. I sewed a new hem, and tried them on.

They're loose! Surprisingly loose, actually. I've lost quite a bit of weight recently, but it's never really hit me how much weight it actually is. I got these shorts from my local thrift store, and they were perfectly fitted then. They actually looked as if they were tailored to me, because they sat perfectly at the waist and were the right size in the hips. I have somewhat wider hips than my waist, and usually if I find a pair of pants that fit in the hips, they end up hanging WAY too loose around the waist! It's so frustrating! I know many girls have the exact same problem. Yet, then, I found that these shorts fit like a dream!

Before and after

As you can see in the picture, the shorts fit rather snug before than they do today. It's actually rather interesting since it brings about a rather different kind of look to work with. Also, I need to find those heart tights~ :3 I bought another similar pair of heart dotted tights last year, but for some odd reason, I can't find it in any of the supposed places it would be. Guess that means I just might end up buying another pair, again... (=__=;;) LOL.

Some weird artistic shot so you can all see my shoes :P

I'm rather happy with the weight I lost, though, I honestly find my attitude and self esteem have remained the same. If anything, it might be a little bad since now I just want to buy a lot more cute clothes~ xP

Later, doods~

006: elf dramatic lash review

So, I tried out the elf dramatic lash today. I was going to review all three dollar store lashes today, but I kept getting kicked out of the washroom by my bro when I tried to take pictures~ haha. I have yet to find a suitable place to take pictures and the like in my house, but that's okay. Onto the lashes!

This is the look I did today
Last night I figured out how to put on full lashes easily after about 4 failed attempts. I used the elf dramatic lashes with these. They're obviously more full than the natural lash. They're definitely more dramatic in looks than I'm used to! I have a rather conservative family, so I usually do really simple make up.

Close up of the lashes
I'm quite neutral about how I feel about these lashes. However, seeing as I picked these up at the dollar store, they're a lot better than I expected. I find them just a bit plastic-y looking and feeling by themselves, but once you put them on they don't look like it. They blend in fairly well with my short lashes! The band is really thin and flexible. It's good so you can tuck them really close to your lash line, but if you're new to putting on lashes these might not be ideal. I find it's a bit easier to put on false lashes with bands that have a little more weight to them.

Here's a few more view of my hair in case you were interested. The little monster in my hair is a button I got from a friend. Also.check out my octopus ring! I lo~ove it. I got it during FanExpo from an AA vendor. It's band is adjustable which means it was able to fit my small fingers~ The only issues I have is that is has a tendency to catch on wires and things like that because of its style, and that the band sometimes pinches. Still, it's such an interesting piece! One of my favourite rings I own~

<wink>
Peace out, guys! I'm off to watch Merlin~

0005: mini cheap lash haul

I left the comfort of my house and couch today to drop my resume off at a couple of places, but while I was out, I picked up a few things.

Dollar store lashes and hair stuff
I saw that they recently stocked some false lashes at my local dollar store, and seeing as I currently only own some half lashes I figured I'd try these out. I mainly use half lashes due to their subtle nature, but it means I seriously struggle when applying full lashes. I also picked up a proper teasing comb and metal clips for sectioning hair at my nearest Sally's.

Also was in the neighborhood to bother a friend of mine I hadn't seen in a while. She's cute and normal person sized so you can all put into perspective how small and Asian I am! :P

A nice natural light photo of my hair arrangement (I got a compliment!) and my make. Also, those are my glasses. I'll probably post a review on the lashes tomorrow. I wanted to do it today, but I was overwhelming tired when I got home because I couldn't sleep last night. Haha, I just ended up watching more Merlin~ It's great! But, it means I don't have so much energy for this post.

 Goodnight, guys!

004: hotwings

I went out for dinner with my best friends yesterday. We went to Sneaky Dee's, a Tex Mex restaurant in Toronto that was featured in the Scott Pilgrim comics.

It's a great local place to go with friends. They have a lot of share friendly meals that are easy on a budget. Also, NACHOS! Need say more? I managed to grab a picture of our meal before they all disappeared.

My outfit and make for the night minus stockings and my fave vintage leather jacket. It's been quickly getting colder. It's getting me pretty excited for layers! Sweater weather

003: make up haul and perserverence

This post almost didn't happen because I'm lazy. But, I set myself a goal, I should do my best to follow though~ :P

Anyways, a while back, a friend placed an order during the big Urban Decay sale. Seeing how I already own a bit of palettes and eyeshadows I don't often use, I grabbed a few of lip products. Some time after that, I realized my mom had borrowed my eyeliner pencil with no intention of returning it. I ended up picking up an Urban Decay liner when I stopped by Sephora to get my Beauty Insider birthday gift~ :D

My make from my post the other day and the products I used as well as the make up I recently picked up. From top, left to right: Missha Perfect Cover BB Cream No.23, Duo Lash Adhesive, Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-on Eye Pencil in Perversion,UD Pocket Rocket in Colin, UD Lipstick in Hotpants and Gash, NARS Blush in Orgasm, Sephora Flutter False Lases, Almay One Coat Dial Up mascara, Tokidoki Gelato Lip Balm in Ciao Ciao, fresh Sugar Advanced Therapy Lip Treatment in fresh and rose, and UD Lip Love Honey-Infused Lip Therapy in Stung. I guess this is a lot of make up for one post. (*_*) I layered Colin over Hotpants for my make.

Swatches of the UD products. Vertical are the lipstick Hotpants and Gash. Horizontal are Stung and Colin. Hotpants is a bright pink with iridescent shimmer. Gash is a brick red which looks pretty much matte except for a barely noticeable hint of red shimmer. Stung is a delicious sheer berry colour. Colin is a nice sheer orange red.

I lo~ove the UD eyeliner Perversion. I compared it to my other current eyeliner which is Buxom Lashliner in Leatherette. Perversion is the single line to the left and the two black lines are Leatherette applied in two different ways.

I usually have to warm up the Buxom liner in it's pot for ease of application, but it's a really nice waterproof liner that can be smudge. :3 It also lasted me TWO years! Lol, so maybe that's why I now need to heat it up for a creamy smooth line. Not that it matters since I usually end up layering liquid liner on top. However, Perversion makes lining really quick and easy. It's also SU~PER creamy and as dark as liquid liner, so it's great for a lazier make day. I'm not entirely convinced if it's totally worth the buy. :S Although UD Perversion is such a quality product, the fact that my Buxom liner lasted so long for the same if not less of the price kind of weighs heavily in how much I love it. I feel as if the pencil will disappear quickly~ (*_*);;

Below are pictures of the lip products in action. I feel like action shots are always better in reviews so the readers can tell how it looks and acts when the product is applied. It helps as a second deciding factor for whether or not I want to buy a product. If not, I would have ended up picking up more UD lipstick~ LOL (^_^;)

002: hair party

Something not yet brought up on my blog is once upon a time, I used to have pink hair. I LOVED IT! Unfortunately, people like to take away things we love, so, due to numerous annoyance by my family, I now wear my hair my natural colour.

Today, I had a friend over who recently asked me to help dye her hair purple.

This is Amy and she's really cute~  Below is the result of my efforts. We decided to dye the bottom half of her head in Manic Panic's Ultra Violet. I'm not entirely happy with it, but I feel like it turned out okay. I just feel like I could do a better dye job. Though, having dyed my hair purple before, I feel that it seem to be a bit of a difficult colour to dye.

Despite that, I was really glad to spend the time with her. A few more friends came and joined us. I busted out my secret alcohol. Behold Amy's creation, the brown zebra. :D

001: a bit of a challenge, birthday, and hair

So, at some point today, I decided on imposing a bit of a blogging challenge. Hopefully, I'll manage to blog every other day if not daily.

I guess it was a kind of a whole weird birthday revelation or something? Not sure but w/e~ As far as birthdays go, it was an extremely chill one. Not the absolute best that I can remember, but it went pretty well.

I started it with drinking while staying up browsing the internet until 5am. I was really tired, but got extremely distracted watching Dasshutsu Game Dero! videos and looking at circle lenses. (^_^;) It was alright since plans for lunch with my best friend fell through. Awesome thing though, mum made me last minute chocolate cake and gave me money to order pizza ~ (^~^) I would have settled to ice cream though, lol.

I was going to do a haul and review post today, but I feel that I will save that for tomorrow or so. I felt like curling my hair though, so I ended up styling for pictures. I'm wearing extensions for fun. :D I did my make up, too, for working action or something like that, lol~

This is my first brother. He ended up walking in on me while curling and asked if I could try waving his hair. It seems to be more "textured" rather than waves, though. His expression is supposed to be funny rather than disappointed. Haha.

He took a picture, too. I tried. I'm not a very serious person, so taking photos usually end in a silly face~ I look as if I'm rather pained to even try a "regular" picture.

the turnaround

I've been weirdly busy and not busy lately.

I haven't posted in a while do to my personal life totes getting out of hand. It's just kind of that abandon that happens when you focus too much on some of the wrong things.

Funny thing, though, I've reached this weird clarity recently that maybe if I blogged more, things might work out in a crazy turn around.

Whatever, we'll see.
